We now have over 12,000 signatures on the petition, which is great, but we can’t stop here.
Recently I drafted a letter to MP’s for members of my Facebook group. Would you contact your MP too? I have copied the letter below leaving a space for you to share your own experience.
Please ensure you include your full address when emailing or posting to your constituency MP, contact details can be found here. www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/mps/
Please share your replies from MP’s in petition comments. Thank you so much! – Diane Danzebrink.
I am writing to you to raise awareness of the women in your constituency and nationally who are struggling with their menopause symptoms. My own experience …..
Diane Danzebrink launched the #MakeMenopauseMatter campaign and associated petition in Westminster with cross party support ahead of the back bench debate on Menopause on World Menopause Day, 18th October. The campaign is urging the government to improve menopause education for health care practitioners, for menopause guidance to be introduced into every workplace and for menopause to be included in the PSHE curriculum.
As a result of the campaign I have become aware of the thousands of women who are affected by a lack of education, information, advice and support. As menopause is a life stage that every woman will experience and three out of four will have symptoms it is simply common sense to make this a priority as women are currently losing personal health, relationships, jobs and even lives. The highest rate of suicide for women is those between the ages of 50 and 54, the average age of menopause is 51.
I would be keen to hear your thoughts on this important issue and to know what you will be doing to engage with colleagues in health, work, business and education to raise these issues and to work towards real and lasting change to improve the lives of women, their partners and families and to address the socioeconomic issues related to menopause.
I have signed the petition along with over 12,000 others to support the campaign and I look forward to hearing how you will be supporting women by ensuring that the aims of the campaign are addressed.
I look forward to hearing from you
